Microneedling Treatments

Treat aged skin, fine lines, wrinkles, acne, burns, surgical scarring, hyperpigmentation, stretchmarks, texture, and enlarged pores.

Microneedling or Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) is a minimally invasive and non-surgical resurfacing procedure that promotes collagen and elastic production - suitable for all skin complexions.

What is the Treatment?

Microneedling or Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) is a minimally invasive and non-surgical resurfacing procedure that promotes collagen and elastic production. It is performed using an electronic MicroPen , consisting of fine micro-pore sized needles that micro-injures your skin.

The treatment can help treat aged skin, fine lines, wrinkles, acne, burns, or surgical scarring, hyperpigmentation, stretchmarks, texture, and enlarged pores. Microneedling can be performed on all skin complexions and types as it does not damage the epidermis.

However, microneedling is not suitable for people who have used any acne drugs within the last 3 months, have cuts, open wounds, abrasions, or bruising, undergone radiation skin treatment within the last year, have herpes simplex virus in the treatment site, have a skin infection, are expecting or breastfeeding, and have a history of hypertrophic scars or wound healing.

The risk of experiencing post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation is less. The treatment can be performed on sensitive areas, such as the neck, eyes, and the back of hands.

How Does It Work?

The therapist uses an electronic device, consisting of 12 to 36 micro pore-sized needles, to gently penetrate the skin’s upper layers to a depth of 0.25 to 2.5 mm, depending on the treatment site. This action creates tiny needle wounds in the skin, which promotes the body to create collagen and elastin fibres. This causes your skin to become fuller and reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and scars.

Treatment Time

Microneedling treatment takes 1 hour, including prep time. You can get the treatment done every 4 to 6 weeks.

Treatment Cost

The cost of microneedling treatment depends on the area being treated and the number of treatments required.

What to Expect

You will visit the therapist for a consultation who will ask you questions regarding your medical history to determine if you qualify for the treatment. The therapist will cleanse and numb your skin using a topical anaesthetic cream.

After 30 minutes, the therapist will remove the numbing cream and apply a collagen-stimulating gel. With an electronic device, containing micro pore-sized needles, they will create tiny wounds in your skin. They will continue to adjust the speed and length of the needle throughout the procedure to increase the trauma in the treatment areas.

After the treatment, they will apply a complete Hyaluronic Acid or LED Mask to hydrate, heal, and protect your skin. Next, they will apply a Vitamin C serum containing peptides, growth factors and Hyaluronic Acid.

Down Time

It can take one week for your skin to become normal. It will take 1 to 2 days for your skin to settle down and once it does, you will experience tightness in the following days and some areas, your skin will become dry and flaky. Your skin will appear smoother and brighter within one week or two weeks.

Aftercare Advice

After the treatment, your skin will feel as if it has been in the sun. You may experience slight bleeding and bruising due to needles entering your skin. But the LED mask should have helped bring this to a minimal. This will last from 24 to 48 hours.

Aftercare tips include:

  • Avoid going out in direct sunlight

  • Avoid using any skincare products containing retinol, alpha hydroxy acids, and similar agents

  • Use collagen-stimulating peptides

  • Avoid wearing makeup for 24 hours

  • Apply a cooling face mask

  • Use an antioxidant serum

  • Avoid any physical activity that causes sweating

  • Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated
